Difference Between ASE Source and SLED Source

The ASE source is designed for production and laboratory experiments. The main body of the light source is a gain medium erbium doped fiber and a high performance pump laser.

The SLED light source is a semiconductor light emitting device including a semiconductor light emitting diode (LED), a digital tube, a symbol tube, a meter tube, and a dot matrix display (referred to as a matrix tube). In fact, each of the digital tube, the symbol tube, the meter tube, and the matrix tube is a light emitting diode.Main applications: LED lighting fixtures,  landscape street lights, billboards, TV, LCD, information screen, etc.

In terms of spectral shape, ASE is a rectangular spectrum, and SLED is a Gaussian spectrum. In principle, ASE is the pump source that excites the erbium-doped fiber to generate spontaneous radiation, and SLED is the laser generated spontaneously by the laser diode.

The SLED light source has the characteristics of high output power and wide coverage spectrum range with respect to a general broadband light source. The product is available in benchtop (for laboratory applications) and modular (for engineering applications). The light source core device uses a special high-output SLED with a 3dB bandwidth of 40nm or more. Through unique circuit integration, multiple SLEDs can be placed in one device to achieve flattening of the output spectrum. The unique ATC and APC circuits ensure output power and line stability by controlling the output of the SLED. By adjusting the APC, the output power can be adjusted within a certain range. Simple and intelligent operation and remote control.
