Optical Fiber Variable Attenuator:
FVA-UV optical fiber variable attenuator is an optical mechanical device used to help control the light flux between two optical fibers. FVA-UV connects the optical fibers through SMA 905 connector and attenuates all wavelength light consistently from UV-VIS to near infrared band.
Why do we need signal attenuation?
In applications of high intensity brightness, such as laser identification applications, too much light enters the spectrometer, which will make the light exceed the detection limit of the high sensitivity linear array detector of the spectrometer. Similarly, in some absorbance measurements, signal attenuation may be required, and too much light energy saturates the reference measurement.
In some cases, different grids can be used to avoid detector saturation, to change the optical incidence aperture (slit or small diameter fiber) or to add a medium density filter to the optical path. Another method (through software) is to modify the integral time of the spectrometer to limit the light collected by the detector. —— Similar to changing the shutter speed of the camera, a faster exposure time. This product is suitable for use when these signal attenuation techniques are not available or do not meet the requirements.
This product is an aluminium device with two optical fiber collimators. A mechanical adjusting wheel is used to control the amount of light reaching "read". The diameter of the adjusting wheel is 24 mm. The rotating adjusting wheel is 0-360 degrees. The light attenuation can be adjusted by 0%-100%. An M3 plastic large head screw is used to lock the adjusted position.

Working principle:
The incident light is evenly dispersed through the first collimator. After fine-tuning through the adjustable slit in the attenuator, the second collimator is absorbed and the output is focused.
The wavelength range of this product is 200~2500nm.
